Frequently Asked Questions

Training

Where do you train?

Training is held at Cintra Park Netball Courts, Crane Street, Concord. Our training courts are at the tennis court end of the grounds.

When do you train?

All teams train on Tuesday nights between 4:30pm & 8:30pm for one hour. Training times are dependent on coach availability, and coaches are assigned once teams are finalised. This means unfortunately we are not able to advise training times prior to the close of registrations.

What do I need for training?

We ask players to wear appropriate training clothes - shorts or tights, t-shirt (Greenlees training shirt is optional), supportive footwear and no jewellery. Please also bring a water bottle and jumper.

I have other commitments on a Tuesday night, can I skip training but still play?

Whilst we understand there are often other commitments, junior players must regularly attend training if they wish to take the court on Saturdays. In exceptional circumstances, players may be permitted to play without attending training however this would need to be cleared by the Executive prior to the start of the season. Seniors training is optional for all players and teams.

Games

Where are games held?

All games are played at Cintra Park Netball Courts, Crane Street, Concord.

When are games held?

Winter season: All games are held Saturdays. 1. Our NetSetGo! Mini Magpies program is run during a morning timeslot, TBC. 2. Junior (8-15 years) games are held hourly between 8:30am and 12:30pm. 3. Cadets (16/17) and Seniors (18+) play at 12:30pm, 1:50pm or 3:10pm each week. Once allocated a timeslot you play at that time each week for the duration of the season. Summer season: Games are held on Tuesday nights. Times are TBC closer to the start of the season.

Can you tell me what time I will be playing before I register?

Timeslots are allocated by the Association once final grading has been completed. This means that unfotunately we cannot advise specific playing times until closer to the start of the season, once registrations have closed.

What time of the year do you play?

We have two seasons each year: Winter season is held between April and September. There are 14 regular rounds, plus finals, with a few weeks off for school holidays and public holidays. Training commences prior to the start of the rounds. Summer season is held between October and December. There are typically 10 rounds with no finals series. There is also no training for summer as games are held on Tuesday nights. The netball season does not follow school terms.

Registrations

How can I tell what age group I am in?

Age groups are determined by the age you are turning in the current calendar year.

How do I register?

Registration is through the PlayHQ system. Click here to sign up.

Once I've registered, what happens next?

If you are new to Greenlees, the next step is to email through a copy of your birth certificate or passport. This is required by the Association to verify players are registered in the correct age group. Once teams are finalised, team lists will be published on the website. For younger players, your coach will be in touch prior to the start of the season with training times. For senior players, your captain will let you know playing times once they are released. In the meantime, head to our socials to keep up with the latest news. Links are at the top of this page.

Can I play with my friend?

Whilst we always try and keep friends together, Greenlees does have a policy where players are required to play in their own age groups. Returning players will always be given first preference for spots in teams if they register on time.

Registrations are closed, can I still play?

Once registrations are closed, we will only accept further registrations if there is a vacancy in a relevant team. Vacancies will be posted on our website and social pages.

Who can register?

Registrations are open to everyone! No matter age, ability or gender, we have something for you. Inner West is trialling netball this year for boys aged 13 and up. This will be the first year the Association has introduced an option for boys over the age of 12, so we are unsure on the finer details at this stage, but are keen to have you join.

My child has never played before, can they still join a team?

Absolutely! We have players join at every level with varying degrees of experience. We'll place them in a team with a similar level of experience. Our coaches will help get them up to speed on the skills and rules at the first few weeks of training before games start.

Uniforms

What are the uniform options?

We have two uniform options. 1. Playing dress. The dress is worn with black undies/scungies underneath. 2. Sleeveless top and shorts/tights. New in 2022, this option has been introduced to be more inclusive. Players can either purchase Greenlees shorts or tights, or wear their own. If supplying your own, they must be plain black. Shorts must come halfway to the knees and tights must come below the knees. Bike pants are not permitted. We ask all players to ensure they have supportive footwear. Light joggers such as Nike Free Runs, Adidas Flux etc. do not offer enough ankle support. We would hate to see anyone get injured so ask you to please wear netball shoes, cross-trainers or similar.

How do I purchase a uniform?

New uniforms can be purchased through PlayHQ when registering. Greenlees also offers a pre-loved uniform program. Contact Jes to find out what is available.
